Brewer is a native West Tennessean, growing up on a farm in Alamo TN in nearby Crockett County where she developed a love and appreciation for the value of land.
Brewer holds a B.S in Education which she earned in 1981 from Union University. She taught in both Memphis and the Milan Special School District for 18 years. An active member of the community, Laurie enjoys being involved in her church, and serving on MEGA (Milan Endowment for Growth in Academics), as a board member and correspondence secretary. During her down time, she enjoys spending time with her family; camping, traveling, and riding the Harley Davidson motorcycle with her husband Tim of 35 years.
