United Country Real Estate's Century of Rural Success
As we proudly celebrate our 100th anniversary, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey that United Country Real Estate has had over the last century. It all began in 1925, a time when the automobile was still a new invention, and the thought of sending a man to space was pure science fiction. Yet, despite the technological challenges of the era, one visionary saw an opportunity to revolutionize rural real estate.
Roscoe L. Chamberlain, the founder of United Country, saw firsthand the struggles that property sellers faced in marketing rural real estate beyond their local communities. Small towns and rural areas, where land and homes were abundant, often struggled to connect with potential buyers who lived far away or had never even heard of these properties. Chamberlain knew there was a better way to bring buyers and sellers together.
Thus, United Farm Agency was born in 1925, with its first office in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The agency quickly grew, and by the end of 1926, United Country had expanded to 42 offices, with 245 successful sales recorded. Even more remarkable is that the original office in Fayetteville is still open today, continuing to serve its community for over a century.
Pioneering a New Era in Real Estate
United Country's mission was simple but revolutionary: to make it easier for people to buy and sell rural real estate, from country homes and vacation properties to investment land. In an era when travel was difficult, and information wasn’t as readily accessible, Chamberlain created a business model that brought rural properties to the forefront of national attention.
The company’s ability to market rural properties on a broader scale was a game changer. By the time the Great Depression hit, United Country’s innovative approach was already making waves, and it only grew stronger as the years went on. As America evolved, so did United Country Real Estate, maintaining its leadership in the rural real estate market while adapting to new technologies and trends.
